President Notes

THANK YOU and your wives, families, and Significant Others for all your work at the convention. We received lots of great comments from many members, and we were able to keep most of the minor "glitches" hiddece way to show them that their champs are just regular people like themselves. We don't yet have final financial figures, but should have done well. The Marketplace sold about $3,400.00 in merchandise, and we also get $1,000.00 from the District. The Harmony Foundation raffle will end up contributing about $1,000.00 in the name of the Pioneer Quartet Champions Association. Gr-r-r-reat! Thanks to so many who worked so hard. And a special thanks to Lee Hanson, Larry Parker, Dorn Burrill, Marv Burke, John Wearing, Paul Ellinger, who stepped in and MC'd Friday night's contest with almost no notice, Mike O'Donnell, Jim Horton, Neil Nugent, Cliff Dake, Rob Pettigrew, and Sue Lewis who were leaders in every way. Don't forget that for fall, we're singing JUST BETWEEN OLD FRIENDS and BACK IN THE OLD ROUTINE. We did pretty well in our "warmup" at convention, but all need to get these two songs down pat. Great to see our current champs and International Senior Champs, Resisting A Rest, all over everywhere all weekend. And congratulations to our new District Senior Champs, Carte Blanche. Still looking for two volunteers. 1. A "Quartet Development" chairman, who will be a member of the Steering Committee. 2. Two people who will volunteer to host our new champs through the maze of Hospitality rooms in the fall. Could be a man/wife team. Please email me if you are interested, or if you have someone you think would do the job(s) well.

Roger Lewis, President

To Our Barbershop Family

Well it’s been a week now and we have come down (mostly) from our trip to Tampa, Fl. We owe the Pioneer District a BIG thank you for all the support and encouragement given to us as we reached for the Gold.

We are proud and humbled to be the 2010 International Senior Champs from the Pioneer District. A big Pioneer connection to the Senior Competition is the Big Pitchpipe traveling trophy presented to the new champs. The Mark Roberts trophy was created by a Grosse Pointe member and with the Grosse Pointe sponsorship was donated at the first Int’l Senior Competition in 1986 by than Society Board Member Jim Gougeon, also a Grosse Pointe member. Resisting – A – Rest is thrilled to have been able to bring the trophy home to Pioneer.

Also a Big thank you for the largest Pioneer representation at a Mid-Winter, we heard you when we took the stage that Friday, you are the best. Again THANK YOU from Resisting – A – Rest and see you in Kalamazoo this spring Tom Conner Lead Resisting – A – Rest.

QCA Hosting of Spring Contest a rousing success

QCA hosting received high marks for helping the spring convention run so smoothly. Our members experience proved a valuable resource to the participating chapters and quartets.

"Party" will represent our district at the International,

Every year the QCA invites quartets to be a part of the QCA show at the Fall District convention. The quartets listed below include some active quartets and some legacy quartets who have retired but are welcome to attend and be recognized. If the legacy quartet would like to sing a song (even with replacements) that would certainly be welcome. --- Roger Lewis
